Daniel Germain
Daniel Germain works relentlessly to change the world for children. Thousands of children in Canada, and too many millions around the world live in poverty. Daniel’s core message is that solving poverty is everybody’s business, and Daniel leads the way, starting in his own back yard. In 1994, he founded “Club des petits dejeuners du Quebec” after he discovered that one child in five arrives at school without eating breakfast. Expanding to “Breakfast Clubs of Canada” in 2005, more than 220,000 children in 2200 programs across Canada have enjoyed millions of nutritious, hearty breakfasts, starting their day off with a significant boost, and vastly improving their chance for success. The clubs also run a JeunEstime program, promoting self-esteem, respect for others and cooperation.

In 2006, Daniel launched the annual Montreal Millennium Summit conferences, an international forum to raise awareness and initiate action towards the fulfilment of the Millennium Development Goals, as ratified by the 191 member states of the United Nations. Such notable speakers as former US President, Bill Clinton; Actress and UN ambassador Mia Farrow; Professor Jeffrey Sachs, Director of the UN Millennium Project; Craig and Mark Kielburger, founders of Free the Children; Archbishop Desmond Tutu; Lady Sarah Ferguson and others forcefully reiterated the urgent need for everyone – celebrities, politicians, businessmen, students, to become involved in the fight against global poverty.

In recognition of his tireless service to the poor, Daniel has received dozens of awards, the most recent being the Order of Canada in July, 2009.
Mia Farrow on UNICEF Television
Mia Farrow
Actor and Activist
Mia is an extraordinary woman who has devoted her life to children, the downtrodden, the forgotten and the abandoned. Following her early life in Hollywood as the daughter of actress Maureen O’Sullivan and writer/director John Farrow, Mia went on to amass her own stellar list of credentials acting in more than two dozen movies including such classics as Rosemary’s Baby, The Great Gatsby, and Hannah and Her Sisters along with her breakthrough television appearance in Peyton Place. Overcoming a childhood battle with polio and a much-publicized, tumultuous personal life, Farrow has emerged victorious and remains one of Hollywood’s most exceptional women. As the mother of fifteen children (ten of whom are adopted), Mia Farrow now devotes her life to humanitarian efforts and the care of a truly remarkable family. Driven by her passion to shake the world out of complacency and complicity, Mia demonstrates amazing courage and strength in her role as a global activist, risking her life in Darfur and some of the most dangerous places on earth.

What Falls Away: A Memoir
Farrow reflected on her ever-evolving life journey in the sincere and candid bestseller, “What Falls Away”. In what Newsweek calls “a simply elegant memoir”, she presents a revealing and frank account of her personal struggles, her numerous professional successes, and her passionate and sacrificial commitment to the children of the world.

Running the Sahara Movie Trailer.
Executive producer and narrator Matt Damon and runner Ray Zahab talk about Running the Sahara.
Ray Zahab
Extreme Athlete and Activist
Back in 1998, Ray was an unremarkable man, smoking a pack or so of cigarettes a day – the only “running” he did was a beer run. Hiking with his brother on New Year’s Day of 2000, Ray made a life-altering decision to get radical! Hiking developed into ultra-marathoning in all manner of extreme environments, and along the way Ray has broken world endurance records and become a champion for clean water and global health.

Ray Zahab ran a history-making 7500 kms across the entire Sahara Desert, running an average of 70 km per day for 111 days (without a single day off) in searing desert heat through six countries. This gruelling battle against the elements and unimaginable mental, physical and emotional obstacles has become a feature documentary “Running the Sahara”, narrated and produced by Academy Award winner Matt Damon.

After a cross- Canada run in 13 days, Ray broke the world speed record from Hercules Inlet to the South Pole, traversing the harsh, inhospitable tundra in 33 days, 23 hours, and 55 minutes - becoming the first person to trek to the South Pole on this traditional 1130 km route solely on foot. This expedition provided young people with an interactive platform and educational resources through a ground-breaking website. Ray aims to inspire and educate youth through adventure learning, and participation in expeditions – as he seeks to raise awareness and funding to alleviate the African water crisis and malaria epidemic.

Running for My Life
Ray’s exploits have been chronicled in his riveting book, "Running for my Life". Ray speaks around the world spreading his "impossible is possible" message.
